Chlorine in the drinking water
Ever since the beginning, water has been disinfected by drinking water suppliers by adding chlorine. These days, water suppliers in The Netherlands have stopped doing so. However, in many other countries this process is still being applied. Disinfecting water is an absolute must for public health. But the inconvenient and hazardous side effects of chlorine can be avoided. Bacteria and viruses in the drinking water
Bacteria and viruses in the water are practically invisible. But they do cause a great hazard to public health. Nitrate in drinking water
You will find some concentration of nitrate in any drinking water. This nitrate gets into the groundwater through the use of fertilizer and acid rain. Nitrate in itself is not poisonous, but it can be converted into nitrite, once it reaches our intestinal canal. Nitrite can lower the availability of oxygen in the blood and therefore it is poisonous in high doses. In the intestinal canal, this nitrite can also give off nitrosamines, which can also be carcinogenic. According to a governmental decree on waterworks, drinking water may not contain more than 50 mg of nitrate per liter. Babies and little children can only have 5 mg of nitrate per liter of water. Nitrates can cause blue baby syndrome with infants. Therefore it is desirable and advisable to filter as much nitrate from the water as possible. This substance will be filtered perfectly with Artemis system Aquarius-ro or system Purewater.
